Sára Szörényi’s presentation at PME49

Sára Szörényi gave a presentation (OC) at the Psychology of Mathematics Education (PME 49) conference in Helsinki, Pre-Service Mathematics Teachers’ Experiences in a Gamified University Course: A Thematic Analysis.

In her presentation, Sára presented the qualitative analysis of student feedback received for a gamified Number Theory course. The reflections showed that in the gamified course, the students felt the invested work was meaningful, and they were able to let go of their fear of making mistakes. The point system helped them to see their progress week by week, reducing their anxiety. The feedback shows that the students who participated in the course would also gladly use a similar gamified assessment system during their teaching practice.
